Soooo....alot of people say that the dorms are not the best but they are livable? Can anyone tell me exactly how many residence halls Hampton has? And the choices for incoming freshman girls? Also do they have any single rooms?

Glad to see another Pirate in the building
The dorms are OK, once you set up your room, it feels like home. As a freshman, you'll be staying in one of the older dorms, but they're not too bad. Your choices will be:
Virginia-Cleveland Hall (VC)
Twitchell Hall
Kelsey Hall
Moton Hall, if they're still using it for women
Davidson Hall
There's another freshman dorm, Kennedy Hall, which is reserved for scholarship students. Nice rooms, but it's difficult to get into Kennedy unless you're a Presidential Scholar. Same goes for Pierce Hall for men.
VC - the oldest and largest building (this is a historic building from the 1880s) but comfortable. Tall flight of stairs to climb, but most of the rooms are pretty roomy. The Cafe is housed in this building, so getting your meals is convenient.
The other dorms (Davidson, Twitchell, Kelsey, Moton) have a pretty similar layout, a block of 20-25 rooms around a central bathroom & laundry room. If you're in Moton, you'll be on the other side of campus next to the mens dorms (Harkness, James, and Pierce).
All of the rooms have optional cable TV, T3 internet, and phone. The layouts for the freshman dorms include a 2 or 3 person configuration, with a wardrobe or built in closet for each resident. The bathrooms are public bathrooms at the center of each wing (some of the upperclassman dorms have private baths).
I had a web site a while back for prospective HU students, with pictures of all of the dorms. I'll see if I can get it back up if anyone's interested.

Can I just say I stayed in Davidson and HATED IT! lol. Upper-class dorms are better though. And all the dorms have nicknames. Davidson Divas, VC Cuties, Moton Misses, Twitchell Trendsettas, Kennedy Queens, and Kelsey Knock-outs.
Oh and Davidson and Kelsey don't have air! VC doesn't have step and unless on in A,B, or, C hall you gonna be climbing steps like crazy!
