Digital Divide? Is the gap real?

The Digital Divide is a term used to describe the gap between those who have access to technology and those who do not. In particular, people who do not have Internet access for whatever reason-- are being left behind in today's information driven society. Without making this post too long, I am asking your opinion. Do you think that there are still people out there who can't get internet access? The reasons are usually things like affordability or inability to use computers. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Yes. I know people in my family who cannot seem to figure out how to use a computer, let alone the internet. I tried to teach them...nothing helped. I think it's mostly older generations though that are having the issue. My grandparents have the hardest time, yet they really aren't THAT old. They are in their early 60's. I have met others who really cannot afford a computer. My mom use to teach this GED program, and none of them even knew what they internet was. My mom taught them how to use it, but they definitely couldn't afford to have it at home, and the public schools where I live are so bad that they don't even have computers for the students...only teachers have access. Of course they have a 19% graduation rate, and everybody I know attends a private school...but this might be an extreme example because my state does have some of the worst public schools in the country.

I believe the gap is real, just look at other countries that are in Africa, sad. And that's where we come from, former kings and queens, now prisoners when we're actually "free". I'm done".
