No Congressman would propose or sponsor a bill like this, because it would be political ****.
It brings up an interesting point though... is there a better way for us to acknowledge Black history? I definitely think we should have a visible effort to recognize Black achievement. Are we limiting ourselves by confining the effort to one month out of the year? Are we unintentionally giving teachers a free pass to condense African American heritage to Martin Luther King, the 60s civil rights movement, and a few selected historical figures?
When we really have respect for true Black history, our children will know about the scholars of Kemet (Egypt) and the kingdoms of Ethopia and Nigeria that were the world's first true civilizations, not just recite slogans from their fast food cups about George Washington Carver's inventions.
