Sanaa Lathan Sanaa McCoy Lathan born in New York City on September 19, 1971. Sanaa, "work of art" in Swahili, was born to Broadway actress Eleanor McCoy and television producer, Stan Lathan. After attending the Manhattan Center for Science and Mathematics, she went on to graduate from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in English and continued her studies at the Yale School of Drama. She got her start on stage in plays in Los Angeles and got roles on TV shows such as Family Matters, Moesha & NYPD Blue. Her first movie role came as playing Wesley Snipes' mother in 1998's Blade. Since then Sanaa has starred in movies such as The Best Man, The Wood, Life, Out of Time, Brown Sugar and her breakthrough film as a leading actress, Love & Basketball. In 2001, she was named one of Ebony magazine's 55 Most Beautiful People. Look for her in the upcoming movies, Wonderful World & The Middle of Nowhere. She was the **** BEFORE love & basketball, when she was in The Wood! Then she blew my mind again in Brown Sugar! She is amazing...

i love her!!! yea she solidified her spot with love and basketball and disappearing acts...brown sugar...she got me with the family that preys tho... but she is a beautiful real woman

'Let it be knowed?' Yeah, homeslice, each one, teach none...but I concur as well. Sanaa's just rocks Hollywood with her acting. I loved her especially in the Family That Preys.
