Hello I am very interest in pledging and I have all the information I need to pledge the sorority that I am interested in. The only problem is that I will be a senior this year and there is no guarantee that they will have a line this year. So I am asking for those of you who are greeks how do I go about pledging grad chapter. FYI: I waited so long to pledge because I couldnt pledge my freshman year, they didnt have a line my sophomore year, and I was physically unable to pledge last year.

I think you have to get an invite to join through a graduate chapter. I guess the question would be how would u put yourself out there to get an invite?

That depends on the graduate chapter. Most of the time, you pledge a graduate chapter the same way you would pledge an undergrad chapter. Contact a member of the chapter, or the chapter (most graduate chapters have mailing addresses and phone numbers) and inquire about meeting with the people. You will probably be taking your potential big sisters to lunch and dinner alot, so save some loot. And graduate membership is usually much more than undergraduate membership.

Depending on the sorority you are interested in, you may not have to be 'invited' to join. You should get to know the members in your area and inquire about service events.

So basically...just to conclude everything...regardless of if they do invitation or not one would still need to get to know members. So is the major difference about joining grad chap and undergrad the amount of money involved?

I was talking to thid lady who is a grad member of a certain sorority who attends my church, and we were discussing me wanting to pledge. I told her how much it usually costs to pledge undergrad..she said it isnt that expensive at all to pledge grad chapter...maybe it was just her chapter...cause now that I think about it...she is a member of an ALUMNI chapter...not " grad " chapter...but im not sure if there is really a difference. Either way she just said it didnt cost as much as undergrad fees for her to pledge her alumni chapter.

Thank you everyone for replying. Money isnt one of the issues. Im quite aware of the cost and thats taken care of. The problem is finding an grad chapter. My plans are to attend graduate school at Columbia University in NYC. I dont have any clue about NYC Grad Chapters.

lilmsnay, you should begin volunteering in organizations that the women of the sorority are known to volunteer in. I don't think you necessarily have to start taking members to XYZ in the name of hoping to get selected. You should make a name for yourself as a hardworking volunteer of well known charities. You are bound to meet ladies from all of the sororities by doing this. Do you have a close friend or relative in the chapter that you would apply to? If so, after lots of volunteer work, express your interest to her, or someone you actually know who is in the chapter. I hope this helps.
