OK, this is the second time i've heard that, the first being in "The Autobiography of Malcolm X", that is, the "Caucasion" gene being recessive. This makes sense, seeing as the original man was one of color, but Where can I find information on this?

i wonder how her half black best friend feels about that.

I read this story about Paris Hilton about a week and a half ago and it just infuriated me. All to often, white people have seem to become more apt to using the "N" word. But although I feel it is wrong and neither she nor any other white person have any business using the word, I think back to a discussion I had in my African American history class over the summer. Are we, as black people, contributing to the use of this word by our continuing use of the word? I mean, yes I understand that we don't use the term in the same sense a white person would, but because we have become comfortable using a watered down version of the word...white people then assume they can say it too. I have a personal experience with this. When I was getting a tattoo last summer, this white woman (who was dating a black man and had a child by him) came in and said "Guess what this (n-word) has done now." I looked at her and said what did you say and she was just like I didn't say anything. That just **** me off even more, because she said the word so calmly, so I know she had to be used to saying and using that term. The sad thing is that a child was involved which will more than likely continue this cycle of ignorance. Even in my English class senior year and prior to that, as we read literature, most people skipped over the word. Other students and even the teachers felt extremely comfortable saying it and justified it as being a part of the literature. I still felt it was completely inappropriate, considering there were black people in the class. I have now come to absolutely hate the term because it is in no way empowering, no matter how you use it, coming from a white or black person.
