a few dayz ago, my mother was listening 2 these two songz she lovez..."Ladies' Night" w/ Lil' Kim, Angie Martinez, Da Brat, Left Eye, & Missy (i 4get someone?)....& Brandy'z "I Wanna Be Down" remix w/ Queen Latifa, MC Lyte, & Yo-Yo....
PLUS...i was listening to "What a Man" w/ Salt 'N Pepa & En Vogue...
& just got to thinking...what ever happened to female collaborations in music!??!
i mean...every now & then, u might have somethin' like the new "Lady Marmalade" w/ Mya, Lil' Kim, Christina, & Pink, but...
4 the MOST part...it seems that when u hear a collabo, it'z with a bunch of dudez...w/ NO females or maybe just ONE...
seemz like femalez ain't tryna get on a record 2gether anymore...
mostly probably because the female rappers r alwayz top and be better than each other...instead of just comin' 2gether 2 put out somethin' REAL HOT...like "Lady Marmalade"...
but even the female R&B singers...u rarely hear duos w/ 2 females on a track...or a bunch of females, like that joint w/ Gladys Knight, Tamia, & Brandy however long ago that wuz....anymore...
Lil' Kim....Foxxy Brown....Chyna Whyte (that gurl iz too nice)....Trina....etc. etc. etc...GET WIT DA PROGRAM!! QUIT HATIN' ON EACH OTHER & DO SOMETHIN NICE, DAYUM
You gotta think about like this. There are about 3 mainstream female rappers that are actually doing BIG things in the industry now. I don't know what happened to the stash of female MCs that were around a few years ago. Probably had babies and wanted to settle down for real. Until the female numbers go up...ain't gonna be too many collabos.
