Like a black dot on a white sheet of paper...HELP!

Coming from a prestigious prodominatly white school in New York City which I have attended for nine years now, I am definately ready to get out of this environment. I am apprieciative for all of the opportunities I have been offered, but I felt like I was loosing part of myself by being in a place for so long where I was the minority. I feel that I adapt well to people, but I am kind of nervous about making that transition from the prodminately white school to the prodominately black school. I was wondering if there was anyone else out there who has had to experience this and was it difficult to make that transition?

I was in the same predicament while making my transition from an all white-private high school to an HBCU. At first, I questioned my decision, but now, I wouldn't change it for the world. I would say, make sure you stay open-minded and make sure you don't write off every experience as negative. I wish you luck in your decision.

That depends on where you go I guess. I came from a white school going into morehouse and I realized that every other kid there was coming from mostly white schools too and therefore had most of the same social skills than I had.

I'm in the same situation now so you are not alone. Therefore I don't know what advice to give :?: since I'm stuck as well. All I can say is pray about it and God will put you where he wants you. Just let go of the stress, trust me you will feel a lot better! Good luck

well I can't necessarily relate to your situation but trust me...the best thing you can do is just be yourself and more than likely you'll fit in
