You can still do your FAFSA without her tax information. (When it asks about your mother's tax info, just click "Will File") It will just have you file a correction FAFSA a little bit later. By the way, the FAFSA isn't hard to do, you're a smart girl, you can do it yourself.

i kno, i was going to do it but she said, " i'll mail it off today and fill out my part cz i'm filing my taxes." had i known she wasn't filing them i woulda just did it myself in the first place. now i 've missed a bunch of deadlines. balck colleges have money problems anyways, they might not have that much financial aid left by the time my stuff is processed

Just ask her for her W2's and you do it yourself ONLINE. it only takes at the most 2 days to process and FAM will have your info quick

Yup yup yup, I couldn't agree with Cafe more. Shoot, my momma doesn't even know what a FAFSA looks like cuz I always did my own. And for future reference, the online FAFSA is the way to go because it makes your renewal process 100 times easier. Instead of redoing your whole application every year you just click on renewal and make the necessary changes. Anywho, good luck to you.

Let me put it to you straight. Unless you have a child or about to work on your master's degree, u and your mom better get some type of schedule worked out. Now as far as FAMU is concerned, it is in your best interest to come to orientation over the summer. The TOPS program is in July, the Financial Aid Office is the most accessible at this time because they are helping you to make sure everything is in order before you come to school in the fall. On that note, make sure everything is straight (classes, dorms, financial aid, scholarships, etc.), I will be at summer school, so I can help you out. It is also best that you send a complete FAFSA because at FAMU, if your FAFSA is not complete, then you go to the bottom of the pile. Even though there are only 13,000 students here, the Financial Aid Office deals with about 25,000 Fin. Aid packages over the summer. The reason for that is everyone who applies to FAMU or sends their test scores here, a Fin. Aid package must be done for them, regardless if they are coming or not. If you are going to be in the band, then let Dr. White know, and he will take care of everything for you.
