Please read below:
By way of introduction, my name is Cynthia Dinkins, VP of the T. Howard Foundation whose mission is to increase the number of women and people of color in the satellite/telecommunications industry. The reason I am reaching out to you is because I have $5,000 to award to a female or student of color in the field of engineering, IT, or communications if they are interested in the satellite industry.
I use to communicate with Janene White at the Center for Engineering Diversity however; she is no longer there, but I did send the information to Dorra Crowder-Thomas. The challenge I have in not only finding a viable candidate, but this will be awarded June 1, 2005 at an awards banquet in Long Beach, CA. So time is of the essence. I am asking if you know anyone that could use a $5,000 scholarship and has a GPA of at least 3.2, would you please implore them to send me their application and essay no later than Wed., May 11, 2005. But first I will need them to send me an email no later than COB Monday, May 9, 2005 to inform me that they will be applying.
I would hate for this $5,000 to not be awarded so I appreciate whatever you can do to facilitate this process. I have attached the application for your convenience. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at 202-639-8847.
