Scholarship Discrimination

I don't understand why organizations who promote further education of minorities (mainly African Americans) only offer scholarship to those who attend HBCU's. I understand this to mean that people are being paid to attend these colleges (HBCU). Is it the institution remaining open so that we can say we have something of our own that is the priority or is it assisting those of us who choose to make something of our lives and hopefully bring advancements to our people? It would seem to me to be the earlier. I am disgusted that I am an 26 year old African American, female, single parent, full-time student, Psychology major, Christian, junior standing, with a GPA above a 2.5 and I can't find any African American targeted scholarships that don't require me to attend a HBCU. Someone please tell me why that is! Why don't I go to a HBCU...where is one that has a Psychology program with a Christian foundation that is accredited by the APA, and offers a Psy.D? I don't believe there is one...I certainly couldn't find it. So I and others like me are being punished or rather discriminated against via a lack of resources to continue education, sort of like the "white man" does. We are being punished for not selecting a vocation offered at a HBCU. I believe that those who promote enrollment at HBCU are doing a good thing...just don't forget about the African Americans that have reasons for not attending HBCU's. I am looking for a solution to this problem!!!
