What Makes A Song .. the Lyrics or the Track???

To me the lyrics of a song are what pulls the weight of the mood!! Then the track acts as yeast does to bread . . u feel me???

They're 50/50.
Lyrics without the track is an acapella.
Track without the lyrics is an instrumental.
yeah they 50/50. its some songs out in the A i coulda rapped to and it woulda been hot just cuz of da beat.

It depends on the context of the song.
Party Joints - are mostly track with a tight hook and flow that compliments the track. When u are in the car listening to the radio or watching the video you aren't really focusing in on the meat of what they are saying
Album joints - are usually more lyric based. I have heard some songs that had booboo tracks but were still hot because of how the MC/Rapper handled it.
Then there are some songs that have the best of both worlds and are tight all around like stuff that Jay and Nas usually come out with.
