What is Hip-Hop to you?

For me its moreso a way of life. It's making that hot mix on the turntables and folks going wild. It's listening to a rapper make a statement on something outside of women, ****, etc. It's waking up in the morning and turning on the radio and your favorite song is on. I view it as a being. It has needs, wants, feelings, elements and so on. I can't put the words to it like I would like to. But this will do for now...

Hip-Hop is politics and artform, and lyrics with meaning and a focus to me... it's about having a good time and enlightening minds...

It's a creative way to express thoughts and personal feelings. In another instance, it's a way of life and a culture. I see and hear people criticizing certain rappers because of what they choose to rap about or how they rap, but that's like telling someone their journal or diary is right. You can't tell someone how express themselves and to me hip-hop doesn't have a blueprint or instructions. It's just life.

LOL you crazy fa that one right there. But hiphop, I agree w/ Megan to on that fact that it's a creative way to express thoughts and feelings. It's basically a culture. It's dance, clothes, rap, singing, talkin, poetry, art, it's so many different things. I believe hiphop in it's more pure form is positive. It wasn't created from negativity, and if anything, it was created as an alternative to negativity. Instead of fightin when cats had beef, they battled it out on the dance tip, or freestylin. I think several parts of hip hop has evolved and become improved and become worst at the same time. Now, hip hop has a way bigger voice in society, especially OUR society, than it once was, but in the same token all of hip hop hasn't utilized it's voice positively.

I completly agree with that statement BlagAmir. In my opinion there is a clean line between Rap and Hip hop.
