Forced to be paper?

I have known for years which organization I want to be a part of, so I was upset upon my arrival to college to find that they have been suspended from my campus. After over 5 years, they are finally coming back to my school! I was so excited to see that they had posted a meeting flyer. I went to the meeting (close to 400 damn aspirants )Now that they are coming back it looks like the first line will be paper  And I will have graduated by the time the next chance to apply comes around. I'm torn because I was looking forwrd to the whole pledge experience. But I truly do love the organization and would want to be a part of it either way. Would you have applied for your organization if you knew that there would be no line? I'm just intersted in hearing some opinions.

I think she/he is referring to missing the bonding process that occurs from going online and pledging, not necessarily going through hell to become a member. That same process actually happens a lot on the graduate level, it's just your time committment may be a bit different. Depends on the chapter.

^^^^Technically no fraternities or sororities get suspended.... Chapters do from what I have learned. And I have reason to believe that some sororities go just as hard as fraternities (well chapters that is). If I was about to graduate and was "forced" to be paper I would do it.... because I have more love for the sorority then for the respect of other people..... I would prefer going "hard" just to be sure of that bond. Not saying that people that are paper don't hold a bond with their sisters/brothers. But I have reason to believe that the bond is tighter through pledging.... but to each their own.

Getitright: First you have to truly ask yourself why you want to be a part of that organization. If you want it to make you or you add to it. I don’t know what you have been told or assume, but Pledging is more than just the a$$ whooping, it’s more mental than anything else. And I will be honest with you, during the time I pledge, going grad or paper (not pledging), or even having a line more that 20, was looked down on (what we call CAT). But times have changed. If you go into an org. not “pledging” and I quote, like others did - that’s all right. It’s all about where your HEART is. If you were willing to go thru whatever it took to be apart of that org., then your heart is in the right place. Now after you are in, how you are accepted/viewed by others and bond with your LS’s – will entirely be up to you. Your personality, desire to know more, do more, “BE OUT” will shape that. Because you could pledge as hard as anybody else, and when you go over, you can still turn out to be luke/cat. And yes, with 100+ LS’s, you won’t be able to bond with all then. Just find that ones that share the same desire and drive as you, and form bonds with them. As far as leading you since no one is on the yard. Find a chapter sister (s) (preferred) and try to learn as much as you can from her (them). Both information and how to “live” it. LS = Line sisters
