Foxy Brown Reveals She Is Going Deaf Due to a rare condition… by Layne Redfern on 10/14/2005 Foxy Brown has revealed that she is slowly losing her hearing after being diagnosed with a rare condition that only affects 1 in 10,000. The rapper, real name Inga Marchand, first noticed a problem when her label boss, Jay-Z told her the sound levels on her new record were way too high when she had thought they were perfect. Brown then started missing calls as she was unable to hear the ring tone, however, the true nature of her condition did not hit her until she woke up in May earlier this year to find her hearing was totally deteriorating. She is now undergoing surgery and medical treatment to fight back against the severe and sudden sensorineural hearing loss. Speaking to America’s People Magazine Brown said: “All along, I’m feeling my hearing going slowly, but I’m thinking, ‘God would never do this. This can never happen to me.’ “The initial doctor I went to told me that if I had attacked the problem when I first realised my hearing was going, I probably would have been able to heal it immediately.” However, being a deaf rapper ain’t all that… “The doctors aren’t saying that it’s definite that I won’t hear again… They say I may be able to hear with an implant. I know it will be an uphill battle.”
