Financial AID!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got into Howard Univ (my first choice December 31!!!!!!!!!) and now i dont have to worry about that anymore. The big issue now is how im gonna actually pay for it. I have a 3.6 GPA weighted and 3.3 unweighted but I got a 1020 on my SAT's so I won't be eligible for merit aid. I've been hearing from random people that HBCU's (not specifically Howard) don't give much financial aid so I'm really worried now. So far since im working i've saved up about $2000 which will hopefully get to $4000 by the summer and I'm praying to god that I'll get some type of private scholarship. Is there ANY advice you can give me about what to do next. HELP!!!!!!!!!!
