Psychiatrist – Psychiatric Emergency Room (Nights)

NYU Langone Hospital – Brooklyn
Schedule: Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays — 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM

NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn is seeking a dedicated Board-Certified Psychiatrist to join our Psychiatric Emergency Room Service. This is a night-shift position providing comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and treatment in a fast-paced emergency setting.

Position Description

The attending psychiatrist is responsible for all assigned patients in the Psychiatric Emergency Room Service and is expected to adhere to departmental protocols, documentation standards, and NYU Langone clinical care policies. The role includes:

  • Managing Psychiatric Emergency Room beds.
  • Providing consultation services for psychiatric patients located throughout NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn.
  • Carrying an appropriate and active caseload.
  • Ensuring high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric assessment and treatment throughout the shift.

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric and medical care to assigned patients, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and documentation.
  • Complete all required documentation, including timely discharge summaries.
  • Liaise professionally with multidisciplinary teams, patient families, and external institutions.
  • Maintain compliance with clinical standards, accreditation requirements, and departmental policies.
  • Maintain CME requirements per Medical Staff Office guidelines.
  • Support programmatic efforts to ensure full compliance with Joint Commission and other regulatory standards.
  • Current New York State medical license
  • Board Certification in Psychiatry
