VARIABLE PAYRANGE 34, $5,847.57 - $7,203.71 MONTHLY

The School of Visual, Performing Arts and Cultural Programs at Long Beach Community College District is seeking a creative, organized, and customer-focused Arts Promotions Specialist to support the promotion and presentation of performing arts, visual and media arts, and cultural programs. For this in-person position, you will design and produce engaging print and digital marketing materials, maintain program websites and social media channels, and collaborate with faculty, staff, and the District's marketing and communications office to publicize events and increase audience engagement. You will also coordinate box-office and front-of-house operations, including ticketing, patron services, and special events, ensuring a welcoming, accessible, and professional experience for all audiences.

As an Arts Promotions Specialist, you will support the visibility and presentation of the District's visual, performing, and media arts programs that prepare students for transfer and professional pathways. Through marketing, communications, and audience services, your work will connect Long Beach City College students, faculty, staff and the greater Long Beach community to dance, music, and theatre performances, art gallery exhibitions, and other cultural events that enrich campus life and advance student learning and engagement.

  • Advanced salary placement: Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salary schedule. Advanced salary placement may be considered on a case-by-case basis; however, please note that requests are typically capped at Step 3.

Duties

GENERAL PURPOSE
Under general supervision of an assigned administrator, performs applied marketing/graphic design and box-office/front-of-house operations in support of the college's performing arts and visual/media arts programs. Designs and produces promotional materials for print and digital use, maintains program web pages and social media, and coordinates ticketing and patron services to ensure a positive, accessible audience experience. Collaborates with faculty, staff, students, and the District's marketing and communications office to promote events and drive audience engagement. Coordinates ticket sales and cash control, supports special events and receptions, and performs related duties as assigned.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
The Arts Promotions Specialist bridges marketing/graphic design production and customer-facing responsibilities. Incumbents implement comprehensive promotional strategies while also managing ticketing and front-of-house operations. The role requires proficiency with graphic design and web tools, knowledge of box-office practices and patron services, and effective interactions with patrons and community partners. Qualifications


Education, Training and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in graphic design, digital media, marketing/ communications, performing/visual media arts, or a closely related field and at least two (2) years of experience in applied graphic design/production and arts promotions, marketing, public relations, or customer-facing POS/ticketing or admissions work, including reconciliation; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
May require a valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy.

Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.

Selection Process:

The following examination segments are pass/fail and may be utilized during the selection process:
