Department Chair, English and World Languages![]() Department Chair, English and World Languages Job ID: 294815 Location: Summerville Campus Full/Part Time: Full Time Regular/Temporary: * Job Summary Augusta University's Katherine Reese Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences is hiring a Department Chair for the Department of English and World Languages. This is a tenure-track/tenured position at the rank of Professor or higher and anticipated to begin July 2026. The preferred candidate will be expected to have a PhD in English or closely related discipline and meet the qualifications for professor in one of the departmental programs. Desired candidates should have experience in directing undergraduate programs and/or experiencing serving in an administrative role. Reporting directly to the Dean of the Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department Chair will provide leadership and support to the Department of English and World Languages and its programs. The Department Chair will work collaboratively with members of the dean's office, the Pamplin College department chairs, faculty, and staff to support the college's strategic plan. The Department Chair will work with the faculty of the Department of English and World Languages to insure successful ongoing assessment of the Department's programs Responsibilities
Required Qualifications Professor: PhD in English or a related field and two or more years experience serving in an academic leadership role such as a Program Director or Department Chair. The Department currently offers BA degrees in English with concentrations in Creative Writing, Literature, Professional Writing & Rhetoric, and a Secondary Teacher Certification and a BA in World Languages with Concentrations in French, Spanish, and P-12 Teacher Certifications in French and Spanish. The Department also offers a Undergraduate and Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in TESOL and is part of the BA with a Major in English and a Concentration in Literature and an Integrated Master of Arts in Teaching Accelerated Program.
