Detailed Description: The Student Onboarding Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and implementation of new undergraduate student orientation, including program development and implementation for the fall new student student pre-arrival and fall orientation experience and spring orientation for first-year and transfer students. Responsible for collaborating with cross-divisional stakeholder areas to produce a quality orientation program. Performs complex administrative and program coordination work for the fall new student orientation and spring orientation; manages logistics and implementation of fall orientation; develops and implements electronic and social media components of orientation; ensures cohesive and effective distribution all pre-orientation materials in partnership with the Parent & Family Relations office; maintains the orientation website and related web links; maintains Guidebook App New Toreros Guide; and recruits, selects, and trains student leaders to support fall and spring orientation programs. Collaborates frequently with Undergraduate Admissions and University Creative Services to develop and coordinate communication to new students during pre-arrival. Periodically, this position may be asked to lead or contribute to either ad hoc or ongoing division/campus projects outside the scope of their day-to-day activities. Duties and Responsibilities: Fall Orientation Implementation
- Serve as key team member on move-in and welcome team committees. Provides input to the move-in process and Radical Hospitality team. - Collaborate and maintain strong partnerships with Mission Integration, Student Wellness, the Changemaker Hub, and The Commons to ensure mission, values, and critical wellness and DEI initiatives are thoughtfully incorporated into the orientation experience. - Initiate the planning and scheduling of complex events hosted in athletic facilities during OL! Weekend (orientation), including securing production elements and ensuring collaboration and follow-through with Athletics Operations staff. - After coordinating with the Assistant Director of Student Onboarding, implement the logistics for the following events in collaboration with the named stakeholders: - Associated Student Government Executive (ASG) Board to design and implement the large social event for all new students during Fall orientation. - Student Activities and Involvement on population-specific events and initiatives, such as First-Generation events.
- Supervise the implementation of the "Welcome to USD" mailing for deposited students. Collaborate with Admissions, Parent and Family Relations, and University Communications on design, content, and follow-through. - Supervise social media strategy to inform and engage students before orientation. Provide work direction to the Graduate Assistants for implementation.
- Maintain the logistics for all online pre-orientation elements. Manage students access to Canvas Course and Guidebook. Collaborate with Student Wellness and The Commons to ensure seamless distribution of online wellness and DEI modules. Spring Orientation Implementation
