HOW A DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

• Administer, monitor, and maintain both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases across production and development environments
• Perform routine database maintenance tasks including backups, patches, tuning, and upgrades
• Design, implement, and optimize database schemas, stored procedures, and indexing strategies for performance and scalability
• Ensure data integrity, availability, and security, complying with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA)
• Collaborate with application developers and system administrators to integrate backend data solutions
• Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, including query optimization and locking conflicts
• Implement and maintain disaster recovery and high availability solutions such as Data Guard, AlwaysOn, or failover clustering
• Create and maintain documentation related to database design, configuration, and procedures

Required Skills:

• Strong proficiency with PL/SQL, T-SQL, and scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell or Bash)
• Familiar with database monitoring and automation tools (e.g., OEM, SQL Server Management Studio, Redgate, SolarWinds)
• Experience with cloud-based database platforms (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS) is a big plus
• Understanding of data warehousing, ETL processes, and business intelligence tools is desirable
• Excellent communication and documentation skills; able to explain database concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Analytical thinker with a commitment to best practices, quality, and continuous improvement

WHAT YOULL NEED TO SUCCEED:

• Education: Associates or Bachelors degree in a related field; or possess an advanced degree in a related field (such as: Computer Science, IT Management, Engineering, Data Science)
• Required Experience: 6+ yrs of directly related professional work experience
• Required Certifications: Oracle Certified DBA and Microsoft SQL Server Certification
• Security Clearance Level: TS/SCI with active polygraph
• Location: Tysons, VA - On Customer Site
