Sr Consultant PLM Strategy
Job Summary
The Sr Consultant PLM Strategy is accountable for defining, owning, and continuously improving the end-to-end portfolio lifecycle management (PLM) framework across Cardinal Healths Global Medical Products and Distribution business (GMPD). This role establishes standard processes, tools, templates, and governance to ensure consistent decision-making from intake through delivery, optimization, and retirement of initiatives, products, or investments.
The role acts as the single owner of lifecycle standards, ensuring alignment to strategic objectives, transparency across portfolios, and disciplined execution at scale.
Responsibilities
Portfolio Lifecycle & Governance Ownership
Own and maintain the end-to-end portfolio lifecycle model, including lifecycle stages, entry/exit criteria, decision gates, and required artifacts.
Reestablish and operationalize the Portfolio Review Board, ensuring integration with enterprise initiative prioritization and investment decisioning.
Define governance cadence, decision rights, and escalation paths across portfolio and category forums.
Ensure lifecycle governance aligns to strategic planning, financial processes, and execution models.
Category Roadmaps & Product Classification
Own and update guidance and templates for annual category roadmaps, ensuring consistency, clarity, and strategic alignment.
Lead roadmap enhancements supporting: Category reclassification for major New offerings and Bundlelevel planning
Maintain and continuously enhance the product and category classification schema, ensuring accurate representation across planning, reporting, and analytics.
Category Operating Unit (COU) Operating Model
Support the advancement and maturation of the COU operating model, including:
Maturity assessments and capability benchmarking
COU roster maintenance
Governance guidance, operating standards, and training materials
Category and COU roadmap development
Act as a center of expertise for COU best practices, driving consistency while allowing for categoryspecific flexibility.
Tools, Data, & Market Integration
Serve as the functional owner for portfolio and category management tools supporting lifecycle execution.
Maintain SKU mapping within the Clarivate market data tool, ensuring alignment between internal portfolios and external market insights.
Partner with data, analytics, and technology teams to ensure accuracy, automation, and usability of portfolio and category data.
Templates, Standards & Enablement
Create, own, and maintain standardized lifecycle and category artifacts, including:
Intake forms and business cases
Category and COU roadmaps
Governance review templates
Prioritization and investment materials
Ensure templates are outcome driven, scalable, and consistently adopted across the organization.
Drive adoption through training, communication, and stakeholder engagement.
Metrics, Insights & Continuous Improvement
Define and monitor KPIs related to:
Portfolio throughput and prioritization effectiveness
Category maturity progression
Strategic alignment and value realization
Use insights to refine lifecycle processes, governance forums, and category standards.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
Preferred Certifications: PMP, LSS Black/Green Belt
8+ years of experience preferred
Familiarity with enterprise road mapping, customer segmentation, and bundling strategies preferred
Experience operating within category based or product centric operating models preferred
Experience with Data Visualization tools preferred (Tableau, PowerBi, etc.)
Ability to balance governance rigor with speed and adaptability
Travel Expectations: Up to 25%
