Medical Health Physicist

What Medical Physics contributes to Cardinal Health: Medical Physics provides consulting to hospitals and medical imaging facilities for the safe use of radioactive materials, licensing, and regulatory requirements for Nuclear Medicine departments. This job family provides professional consultation and physics testing regarding the quality and safety of diagnostic imaging equipment and performs the duties of Radiation Safety Officer at customer facilities.
Responsibilities:
Travels for routine customer visits inWisconsin and Illinois and other states requiring team coverage. Overnight stays in hotels are routine and daily visits to customer sites within a driving distance are the most common.
Completesradiation safety audits and ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) reviews asrequired.
Performs patient dose calculations from various imaging modalities as needed.
Developsand/or updatespolicies and procedurespertaining tothe use of radioactive materials and radiological imaging procedures.
Providesradiation safety training to medical and/or ancillary staff at hospital andoutpatient facilities.
Designsappropriate radiationshielding for site planning.
Evaluation and/or calibration of radiation measuring equipment used with radioactive materialsto assess compliance with state and/or national standards.
Provides consultation to healthcare facilitiesregardingcompliance with radioactive materials licenses and applicable state and/or federal regulations.
Supportscustomerradiation safety committeesthrough meeting attendance, policy review and advice on radiation safety related issues.
Preparesradioactivematerialslicense applications, renewals, and amendment requests.
Qualifications:
8-12 years of experience, preferred
Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
Graduate degree in medical physics, radiologic physics, physics, or other relevantphysical science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution, preferred.
Proficiencyin Agreement State and NRC regulations.
Customer facing experience preferred
Strong customer service focus
Ability to travel ~60% or as needed for role (includes day trips and overnight stays)
