Job SummaryThe Prevention Research Collaborative (PRC), based in the Department of Health Behavior & Health Equity at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, seeks a Research Area Specialist Associate to support community-based data collection and evaluation across PRC initiatives, with a focus on violence prevention, positive youth development, and housing. This position will support multiple community-based research studies in Flint, Michigan, with primary responsibility for coordinating and managing field-based data collection activities. The role includes overseeing data collection logistics, supervising temporary field staff, and working closely with community partners to ensure high-quality, community-engaged research implementation. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, experience managing neighborhood-level data collection, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse community stakeholders. Responsibilities are supported by funded projects and may evolve to support additional PRC initiatives as programmatic needs change. Modes of WorkPositions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. This position is based in Flint, Michigan and is classified as hybrid. Regular in-office presence (1-2 days per week) is required, with increased in-person time during periods of active data collection and field staff supervision. In-person meetings in both Flint and Ann Arbor are also required on a regular basis. Work schedules will be determined in coordination with the supervisor upon hire and may vary based on project and operational needs.
