MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT As a Network Engineer Senior TS/SCI required the work youll do at GDIT will be impactful supporting mission of US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM).Responsible for Installation, configuration, and support of an organizations local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), Agency Internet Network (AIN), Intranet and Internet and other data communications systems or a segment of a network systemMaintains network hardware and softwareMonitors network to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability;May supervise other network support and client server specialists and plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures; and will provide leadership/mentorship to junior & mid level network engineers.Oversees network control center; provides support to projects that involve networks; performs a full range of complex network designs encompassing multiple technologies within a single network; evaluates new network technologies and makes recommendations to project managers regarding the integration of these technologies into the existing network; plans new configurations for integration into the network, using knowledge of the performance characteristics of the systems being added to the network and the specifications for network interfaces to insure effective integration and optimal network performance; ensures that adequate and appropriate planning is provided for hardware and communications facilities to develop and implement methodologies for analysis, installation and support of voice communications systems; and provides support in the translation of business requirements into telecommunications (e.g., LAN, MAN, WAN, Voice and Video) requirements, designs and orders.The overarching INFOSEC and COMSEC security requirements for the Agency network add to the complexity of these positions.Analyzes user's requirements, concept of operations documents, and high level system architectures to develop network requirements specificationsGuides users in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studiesAnalyzes network requirements and capacity and leads design and development activitiesProvides technical leadership for the integration of network requirements, design, and technologyIncorporates new network plans, designs and systems into ongoing operationsDevelops network architecture and network design documentationGuides network development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of network engineering management plans and network integration and test plansDesigns and performs integration of new technologies into local and wide area networksProvides advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution of complex network problemsManages the transition and migration of networks and development of network addressing schemesInteracts with the Government regarding Network Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues or conflictsUltimate responsibility for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Network Engineering area of responsibilityCommunicates with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives WHAT YOULL NEED TO SUCCEED:Education Bachelor's DegreeExperience: 12 years of experience, or 10 years of experience with Master's DegreeRequired Skillset:Mitigate risks, controls costs and schedule variance, and effectively manages large scale, integrated projectsReview and/or approve Network engineering documentation to ensure that processes and specifications meet Network needs and are accurate, comprehensive, and completeEstablish and follow a formal procedure for coordinating Network integration activities among multiple teams, ensuring complete coverage of all interfacesCapture all interface designs in a common interface control format, and store interface data in a commonly accessible repositorySecurity Clearance Level: TS/SCIRequired Certification(s):DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II/8140 Computing Environment (CE) Certification as determined by the Program Manager is required prior to support on contractIAT II 8570/8140 Baseline Certification Security+ or equivalentRequired Computing Environment Certification: minimum of CCNA to start and CCNP within 180 days of your start date.
