We are seeking a Fiber Test Engineer to support the MIT LL team.

Key Responsibilities:
Fiber handling, routing, organization in lab spaces
Test equipment and infrastructure repair / replacement
Test equipment andinfrastructure configuration Setup / Debugging / Calibrating
Arbitrary Waveform Generator operation
Procedure Writing and Redlining
Generating Documentation and Diagrams
General / Test Event support for Comm and/or PAT
Work Environment:
Location:Predominantly on-site
Travel Requirements:Willing and able to travel (up to 10%, typically CONUS)
Working Hours:Standard
Required Qualifications:
Active DoD Secret clearance
Bachelor of Science
5 years of applicable experience
Fiber splicing
Fiber routing and handling
Fiber equipment / component characterization and calibration
Power in fiber measurement to support compliance with component specifications
Familiarity with a diverse set of lab test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, waveform generators, power meters, attenuators, switches, spectrum analyzers, etc.)
Instrumentation skills
Optical amplifier experience (high power)
Ability to perform experimental arrangementdebugging
Experienceperformingdata analysis and generating reports
Experiencewith MATLAB
Desired Qualifications:
Familiarity with designing GUIs for instrumentation (e.g., MATLAB App Designer)
Familiarity with coding languages beyond Matlab (e.g., Python)
Solidworks knowledge
Signals and Systems knowledge
Experience with optical communications systems and standards
Experience with pointing, acquisition, and tracking (PAT) techniquesfor free-space optical communications systems
Basic Compensation: For MA only, the salary range is approximately $117,600 - $176,300 USD annually. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidates knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
