Clinical Nurse II (RN), L&D - One UMMS Staffing Center
Job Requirements

Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse, UMMS Staffing (USC) provides safe, evidence-based, patient- and family-centered nursing care across UMMS inpatient and approved procedural, surgical, and ambulatory care settings. As a member of the internal resource workforce, the USC RN is employed by the Staffing Center and deployed to clinical units based on organizational need and validated unit-specific competencies. The USC RN practices within the scope of the Maryland Nurse Practice Act, professional nursing standards, and organizational policies. Care is delivered in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, with flexibility and adaptability across assigned clinical environments.

Primary Responsibilities

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job responsibilities performed.

Provides direct and indirect nursing care appropriate to the patient population and acuity of the assigned unit.

Independently performs comprehensive patient assessments, implements nursing and medical interventions, evaluates patient responses, and documents care in the electronic medical record.

Collaborates with patients, families, charge nurses, nurse managers, and interdisciplinary team members to promote continuity, safety, and quality of care.

Safely administers medications and utilizes clinical equipment and technology in accordance with policy and validated competency.

Delegates and supervises nursing care activities consistent with the Nurse Practice Act, organizational policy, and individual competency levels.

Demonstrates professionalism, adaptability, and effective communication when transitioning between units and clinical settings.

Adheres to evidence-based practice, regulatory standards, and organizational policies to promote patient safety and quality outcomes.

Identifies, reports, and takes appropriate action related to patient safety risks, adverse events, and near misses.

Supports unit operations and staffing needs, including performing charge or other unit-based roles as appropriate and within validated competencies.

Participates in quality improvement, performance improvement, and patient safety initiatives as applicable.

Maintains current RN licensure, required certifications, and validated competencies necessary for assigned clinical settings.

Completes all required organizational, regulatory, and annual education.

Participates in ongoing professional development to maintain clinical competence.

  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.


Work Experience

Education & Experience - Required

Current and active unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the State of Maryland or eligibility through the Nurse Licensure Compact.

American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).

Additional certifications and experience requirements (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIHSS) are required based on unit-specific competencies

Minimum of two (2) years of recent acute care nursing experience within the past 12 months.

Bachelors degree from an accredited nursing school.

Education & Experience - Preferred

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).


Benefits

Compensation:

$55/hr. Flat rate
