Johnene Phylicia Benson, a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia is currently a senior Business Management major at Winston-Salem State University.

As Ms. Benson ends her journey at WSSU, she is proud of the great impact that she has created on the campus. Due to the hard work and challenging spirit that Ms. Benson displays, she was inducted in the WSSU Honors Program during her freshman year and is an active member of the Student Honors Organization. In efforts to develop professionally, she volunteers often in the Department of Management and Marketing in the School of Business and Economics. The professors in the School of Business and Economics are very familiar with her success and inducted her to serve on the Student Advisory Council. During her ram journey, Ms. Benson has been active in the following organizations: My Sister�s Keeper, Followers of Christ under Salvation, Rams Representatives & My Natural, in which she is the Founder and has served as the President; she currently serves as the Sponsorship Coordinator. My Natural is established to help college women understand their self-worth & to display techniques to help ladies grow healthy natural hair. Many of her peers recognize her excellence because she has served on the WSSU Royal Court as Miss Freshman & Miss Sophomore.

In declaring her minor last semester as financial services, Ms. Benson has received a finance internship with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and was chosen as one of the two CIAA interns that had the opportunity to work with Nationwide Insurance the summer of 2012. Ms. Benson strives to graduate Magna Cum Laude in May 2013, start her career off in the finance department at Nationwide Insurance, gain her Masters in Business Administration and become a business owner within the next five years. Her ultimate goal is owning a three-story salon and spa with a boutique for men & women. When meeting new people, she keeps in mind a quote by Les Brown; it states, �The way in which you dress, will determine how you are addressed.� In a generation that values appearance, she is assured that her business will be prosperous. Johnene Benson has a mindset of a high achiever; her passion for succeeding and love for making a difference will lead her to a promising future.
