Jerome Bailey Jr. reports news in all platforms (video, text and photo) for the Associated Press. He earned a Masters in Journalism from Columbia University in 2014. He graduated from Dillard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication and a minor in marketing in 2013.

During his final year at Dillard University, Bailey served on the Student Government Association as Mister Dillard. His male initiative gained national attention when he called on Dillard male students to wear suits on the first day of classes. He was the first male recipient of the William Sutton Prize created for the best all around student and awarded at commencement. Bailey is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. where he won Outstanding College Brother of the Year and the Belford V. Lawson Oratorical contest in Louisiana.

He has spent countless hours completing community service and mentoring young men in the Greater New Orleans area. He was a junior fellow of the intercultural exchange program, the Melton Foundation where he traveled to Germany and Chile.

Bailey played a vital role in re-establishing Dillard’s in house radio station, WDUB in 2011.
