Q&A With Janae Baker

About   (request update)
I struggled majority of my academic years while growing up. I was diagnosed with a learning disability and I struggled with comprehension K-12 and I never passed the standardized test we were required to pass to graduate. Approaching my last semester in high school I receive a decent score on the ACT which made me eligible to graduate. I never thought I would go to college let alone be accepted, but once I was admitted I fell in love. I felt the support of my professors, academic advisors, and other administrators at my school. These faculty members made my college experience one to remember so much I went back to receive my Masters. I would like to support and assist many other students through college who went through if not the same, similar struggles as I did in school. One popular quote I live by says, "If I can help somebody as I pass along, if I can cheer somebody with a word or song, if I can show somebody he’s traveling wrong, then my living will not be in vain." Dr. Martin Luther King.
Current Whereabouts:
I am currently into working as an Academic Advisor (all departments) or an Adjunct Professor in the Social Work Department.
Life & Professional Aspirations:
Professional aspiration is to work with college students in their academics. My first aspiration is to become an academic advisor, followed by a professor, and then later on becoming a program director.
