The truth about love #1 What are you holding/ harboring?
|
Posted By: T.D. Faison on November 09, 2008 Why must we get our selves involved in situations or relationships that are extremely unhealthy for us? You know I'm usually a good judge of character but in love I've been as blind as a bat. I believe there are a lot of people out there who could agree with me on that one. lol But seriously I feel some of my mistakes in love came from unresolved issues I had from the past they totally consumed me. They thrust me into a world of heartbreak that I caused on my own. I feel what I went through is what a millions of people experience each day. You know I have some friends who have been sexually abused as a child and foster kids who were treated very badly. Some that were abandon by one or both of their parents, by either drugs or people. Sadly what I've seen has being replayed around the world. What happens is that those children that experienced this pain are now young adults in society that you and I come in contact with, or get in relationship with. Most of these people never ever get help or confront their inner pain, they suppress it mentally, or with drugs. This cycle never ends and is passed on to unsuspecting people who come into our lives and end up being victims of the same crime that was done to us. I say crime because it is a crime against humanity and the human spirit. Anytime anyone is made to feel less than a person or violated, abused etc. a crime has been committed. Most of the time it's not our faults of what happened to us, but what does become our fault is how we let it affect our lives. We may not have had control over the abuse but we can change its control over us. Sadly a lot of people use this as an excuse on why they hurt people, or walk easily away from relationships. Because of that lack of truly understanding and appreciating, true agape love. I feel that until one deals with those demons then they are no good to anyone not even them selves. A healing process has to begin..... 1st things 1st "Forgiveness" has to be put into action. That's the forgiveness of the one /ones who committed the crime against you. You have to forgive them 1st. I know it sounds hard but trust me it begins to cleanse your spirit, and you can feel it. 2nd you need to forgive yourself for harboring this pain for so long that it has caused you to harm yourself!!! 3rd Ask for forgiveness to anyone that you have hurt through your actions done by you subconsciously. Once you start these 3 steps next take time to love you and know who you are, before getting involved with anyone else.... Have you ever been a relationship with someone like this? If so how did you deal with it? Or is this blog talking about you? What are you holding? If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
