Miss Black United States 2005

Posted By: Deidra Moore on June 29, 2005 It was a Father's Day to remember for Dexter Sapp whose daughter Dextria Sapp won the title of Miss Black United States 2005- 2006 on June 19, 2005 in Atlanta. Dextria, along with thirty other contestants, competed in a week of competition for this prestigious title. Her attendants included first- Rachelle Cain, Miss Black California, second- Melissa McDaniels, Miss Black Tar heel State, third- Ashiya Prince- Miss Black Florida, and fourth- Angelena Washington- Miss Black Southern States. During the week of competition contestants competed in a fitness challenge, interview, swimwear, evening wear, casual wear, and talent. Dextria will spend her year reign promoting her platform Child Abuse Awareness. Her first appearance was with Cathy Truett, founder of Chick-Fi-La, discussing his involvement with abused children and The WinShape Centre(r) Foundation Dextria is no stranger to the spotlight. Just last month she was a runner up on NBC's "Fear Factor: Best Friends." She was also Miss Black Louisiana US and a former Miss Louisiana Contestant. The Miss Black United States Scholarship Pageant is one of the largest pageantry sources of scholarship for African American Women. In 2006, the pageant system will be expanding their pageants to all African American females, ages 13 to 45, with a Teen, Miss, Ms., Mrs., and Plus Size division.
