The Lucas Family
|
Posted By: Lonzo Lucas II on December 14, 2008 From (l. r.) my brother Bert, Uncle Sylvester, Aunt Lula, Dad (Lonzo Sr) and me. The people that you see here short of my baby brother and me dealt with just about every issue that African-Americans had to deal with at that time: Jim Crow and the idiocy that was segregation. Ignorance from the Caucasians who stupidly equated the deeds of a few waywardly African-Americans as the deeds of an entire race. Sadly this still goes on today through other unenlightened cultures (i.e some Americans, S. Koreans, Iraqis, Japanese, Africans and portions of England) still hold onto these beliefs despite the advances that Africans Americans have made though education and financial gains here in the Diaspora. Hopefully those negative beliefs will continue to change as my brothers and sisters continue to find enlightenment, inspiration, financial and more importantly spiritual upliftment in this land that our ancestors built.
