The merging of black colleges...
|
Posted By: ashlee jones on March 25, 2009 I attend the oldest public hbcu in GA which is Savannah State University. The latest news about all the black colleges in GA is that they may be merged with other colleges. They want to merge Albany State with Darton, I think they are trying Fort Valley also, and they are trying to merge us with Armstrong Atlantic. We will no longer be an all black college and I personally feel that that's the whole point. People look at our schools like we aren't as smart as other colleges and universities and that all we care about is partying. I mean we do like to have fun and yea we party but our education is just as good as the rest and if it isn't then it could be. I must admit that with the colleges merging, there will be more diversity amongst the students and maybe even the education but it would really be a downfall to loose our hbcu's. The "merging" is not yet official but sometimes I feel like whites will go out of their ways to have it their way. This is solely my opinion.
