A kid like that

Posted By: busta bitch on April 15, 2009 So this morning while watching my regular morning news roll, I saw this story on CNN, it documented the increased use of heroin in the Northeastern states. The story chronicles the life of Natalie Ciappa, a teenager from Long Island, NY. The CNN reporter begins to talk about her life, how Natalie was a straight A student, a senior, a cheerleader, from Long Island...how could this happen to a child like that. WTH!!. Then they showed the interview with her father and he says it again, how could this to a kid like this.... So being the intelligent analytical person that I am... i was struck by the shock that registered in both of their voices.. a kid like this. So what did they mean by a child like this.. a child like what? And what type of child should be a heroin addict? Why were they both so shocked that a straight A student, cheerleader, from long island could be a heroin addict? Why? Who is suppose to be a heroin addict, the urban (yall know that is the new code word for minority right), F average student from a single parent home? I am not drawing any conclusions.. I am just asking the question folks.. if a kid like that is NOT suppose to be a heroin addict..then who is? Another thought to ponder, isn't it remarkable that everyone's panties get in a bunch when drugs move into the upper middle class suburban world. The increase of heroin is not new phenomenon, I guess it just matters now because it is affecting kids like that. SMDT!!
