U. S. SENATE FINALLY APOLOGIZES FOR SLAVERY!

Posted By: Bill Cooper on June 21, 2009 Now, this is a topic worth following! So, what does it mean? Keep in mind it was only a Senate Resolution, passed Friday, June 19, 2009. And it paves the way for a joint congressional resolution by that law making body. It does not mean that reparations checks are on the way but that idea is sure to catch on more than it has up to now. The Washington Post quotes Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) as saying, "You wonder why we didn't do it 100 years ago"! He was instrumental in getting the Black Farmers bill reopened,too. The Post goes on to classify the Senate's vote-a unanimous one -as An important and significant milestone" And that the Senator wanted the resolution that was passed Friday to be close to 'Juneteenth', a holiday that Blacks celebrate the Emancipation from slavery. This is going to be an interesting situation to follow and note as to whether President Obama supports reparations for the descendants of former slaves. Isn't it interesting the first Black American to become President now occupies the White House, built by former slaves and could wind up being the player that can influence which way reparations go ? What position do you think the President will or should have on the reparations issue, a topic that has been hotly debated from time to time?
