Posted By: Eric Deal on October 01, 2009 'MYAFRICANDIASPORA.COM Challenges the Publishing Establishment with the Announcement of the African Diaspora Short Story Contest' Las Vegas, NV – (October 2009) - MyAfricanDiaspora.com, a news and information website aimed at reconnecting the African Diaspora, announced its 1st Annual Short Story Competition, offering contestants the opportunity to win cash prizes and publication in a short story anthology. The contest is open to anyone, any race, any country, any continent, but the main character must be of African descent. “As a writer myself, I am excited about the opportunity to host this international showcase for talented writers promoting positive, diverse images of people of African descent,” said Veronica Henry, co-founder of myafricandiaspora.com. “We look forward to reading the best each continent has to offer.” The grand-prize winner will receive $500; genre winners will be awarded $25 Borders Gift Cards; and along with the winners, the top three entrants in each genre, will have their stories published in a short story anthology. Submissions will be accepted October 1 – December 31, 2009. There is no limit to the number of entries. The winners will be announced on February 1, 2010.
