Gotta transfer

Gotta transfer
Posted By: LaShonda Redd on August 25, 2005

After working me big booty off to pass my high school classes with a good gpa and honor roll i get nothing to show for it. I have to pay 8,000 dollars a semester for my tuition at Tuskegee Univerisity and sorry to be informed by my mother she just cant take out anymore loans. My grandmother took out the first one and she refuses to take out another one unless i come home. My mom told me i have to transfer after my first semester to a closer state that offered more money. I haven't decided where yet but im going to keep you posted. Let me know where else i should go thats no more than 5 hours away from mass

I went and talked to my financial counselor after standing in a line for 3 hours (no over exaggerating either) they told me because the south makes less money and has a different idea of how much making to much money is they said my mom makes to much money, but where i come from MASS they said she barely makes the the working class limit and it would be easy for me to get financial aid there. So im not qualified for work study here in alabama. I dont know if i want to take out another loan i already have to pay 15,000 dollars back to the loan i already took out, including interest so im trying to get away from loans.

That's a bunch of baloney! Tuskegee just dosen't give out many scholarships to African Americans anyway, and they steal the money that does come through. The south has plenty of money, despite what they tell you. I was told the same thing by the same counselor. (We have the same counselor, I use a fake last name on the internet). Tuskegee gets tons of donations from many major companies, they just don't spend their money on things that are important to the school.(like dorms)lol. That is also why I left TU because of financial reasons and I too was not going to get a loan.
