Is Your Resume Ready for Your 2011 Job Search?

Posted By: Tonya Harris on December 20, 2010 Today's resume has to be versed in demonstrating how you will stand out in a marketplace that has 4 levels of generations and a corporate society that is focusing more aggressively on utilizing outsourcing strategies. So what does one do? You have to make your resume specific and not generic! Step #1. If you're in the Atlanta area, come attend one of our FREE resume writing workshops at Dekalb Workforce Development on Thursdays and Fridays from 10am - 12noon. Register at www.DynamicVisions.us. Step #2. If you're not in the area, I challenge you to invest time by circling key words that are embedded in the job description (key requirements & qualifications) that align with your abilities as changed words needed to the new 2011 resume. Step #3. As you go through spring cleaning your resume for 2011, make sure it only reflects the most recent 8 to 10 years of work experiences. Why? Because think about it, 10 years ago technology was different, management styles were different and your company probably used different processes as well. Remember your have to be relevant!
