Ivory Simone Displays Her Writing Skill And Talent In Debut Novel “Havasu Means Blue Water”

Simone skillfully paints a picture of each character. The characters play a very different role in the story. However, by the end the reader can appreciate and understand how the characters are intertwined. Simone truly shows her talents as a writer by creating such a multi-faceted story. Havasu Means Blue Water is a multi-layered story about fictional Wilburn, Arizona, a Southwestern town with a violent past in desperate need of water and hope. The heroine of the story, Lyla Amir, is a young graduate student running from her past, travels to Wilburn to do field research about an unsolved murder of a black farmer and his wife.
