I am ready to change, but others are not ready for me to change.

I am ready to change, but others are not ready for me to change.

On yesterday I spoke to a group of young ladies about living a significant life. At the end of my session I offered Q/A time. I was brave enough to tell the young ladies they could ask me anything. The young ladies actually asked very wonderful questions.

Check out what one student asked:

Q: I am trying to change, but my friends want accept my change. How do I handle the change and deal with my friends?

A: Change is good and it is even better when you realize the change must happen. It is very difficult to change when others are still doing things that you have decided you no longer want to be involved in. Most people become our friends because of the person we were. The thing about change is that people simply don’t like change. The majority of people like to stay in situations that keep them comfortable. Therefore, if you decide to change your friends may think they will have to change. They will begin to influence you by telling you that you are perfect the way that you are! The one thing I must tell you though no one is perfect.

We must continue to grow and become better persons.

I simply do believe that friends and people are in our lives for a reason, a season and a particular time. As you grow and mature there will be numerous people coming into your life. These persons may be there to teach you a lesson or you may have to teach someone. Although you have been friends with your girls for quite sometime, it may be time to also change who you are hanging around. Your girls may very well be the reason you have decided to change. You must make a choice; are you more important or maintaining friendships that don’t allow you to grow. I believe if these young ladies are your true friends you will be able to talk to them. Tell your girls what you are feeling and how you need their support like never before. That sometimes you don’t know why you want to change, but while you are figuring it out that they become better friends. I must WARN you this is not an easy task. You may find that the season and the time for your friendship have come to an end. Thankfully your change will bring new advventures, new friendships and especially a new YOU!
