We as people or should I say African Americans belief that we have a rich heritage or are we just blind. I do believe that I am totally American or am I?? People may say that they are African American just because they have the skin complexion does the thought of culture absence contradicts that. Just a thought… is what u might be saying, but what I am trying to get at is that do we really know who we are, are we African American or just plain ole' American. So is the mixed American African American?? Society is stereotypical and has brainwashed us to believe there stereotypes..

The stereotypes are who we are until each of us as individuals prove that to be wrong...
People are who they say they are, OR who other people say they are, depending on the context... So it doesn't really matter. What matters is that no matter how each of us as individuals are grouped, we should represent that group by being positive examples, and just being the best we can be.

Michael, I tried talking about the subject that you are bring forward in my blog, 'Black History/Black Mysteries'. Every since we were brought to the shores of North America, we have been called whatever the people of influence has tagged us. I am not an African American. I am a black man. We weren't put into slavery for being African American. We were brought here because of the color of our skin. We lost everything that our original forefathers gave to us in the way of heritage. We don't know our names, our culture, our religion or our true values for that matter. We are the lost sheep that the Bible talks about. There are no other people on the planet who vaguely resemble us. Look all over the planet into the deepest darkest recesses and you find no others who are totally lost. I sometimes think of the scripture where Peter asked Jesus (I am ad libbing) 'Who did sin so that this man was made blind?' And Jesus answered, 'No one sinned...this man was made blind so that God could show forth his power.' We were blinded, deafened & made dumb when we were cut off from our original mothers & fathers. A great work is going to come from our sojourn. No amount of education, wealth or 'white christianity' can deliver us. Only God can and He is going to show forth his power through our deliverance. Then we & the whole world will know just who we are.
