HBCU alumni honored, “Friday Night In Harlem” Saluting Gospel & Swing Jazz at The Apollo Theater

On Friday, January 31st, we invite all communities to be a part of the Super Bowl celebration, “FRIDAY NIGHT IN HARLEM”, a mega-concert that will pay Tribute to Jazz Legend “Duke” Ellington with featured performances by the Manhattan School of Music Swing Jazz Orchestra, special guest performances by NEA JAZZ MASTERS: CECIL BRIDGEWATER and ARTURO O’FARRILL. Plus an All-Star Band led by extraordinary contemporary Jazz musicians Alex Bugnon, Victor Bailey, Lenny White and award winning vocalist Regina Belle. There will also be two special performances, by the Mass Choir of First Corinthian Baptist Church who will be joined by legendary singer/songwriter Valerie Simpson of Ashford & Simpson who will also receive the First Whitney Houston “Living Legend Award”. The second special performance will be from emerging Master Pianist Jonathan Batiste, who will also be presented with the Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong Legacy Award.
