Posted By: Jesse Burwell on January 06, 2006 Annual African American Art Festival A Chance for World Famous, Local and Child Artists to Shine STAR ECO Station presents the Annual African American Artist’s Expo, a compelling, culturally rich, family event that has launched the careers of some of LA’s hottest emerging African American artists, as well as provided a unique exhibition space for child artists as young as 5 years old. This FREE event, Feb 4, 2006, includes: Live Music · Dance · Spoken Word Poetry · Paintings · Sculpture · Pottery · World Class Capoeira · Jewelry · plus food, vendors, crafts, games & so much more! Talented students from STAR Education programs at Avalon Gardens Elementary, 59th Street Elementary, Loyola Elementary, Cowan Elementary, Paseo del Rey Elementary, and Watts Learning Center will perform hip-hop dance, jazz, drill team and more! The African American Artist’s Expo is Feb 4, 10am-4pm at the STAR ECO Station, 10101 W. Jefferson Blvd. Culver City, CA 90232. Through a collaboration with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, STAR ECO Station rescues and houses "at-risk" and endangered exotic wildlife, including tropical birds, exotic reptiles, wildcats, and ocean life. With a mission of Conservation Through Education, STAR ECO Station’s provides quality environmental science education aligned with California State Standards.
