Virginia Union posts win in the Freedom Classic

Posted By: Nichole Booker on January 16, 2006 Virginia Union defeated Virginia State in this year's Freedom Classic, 71-43. Union is ranked number 1 in the country, but had a rough start with only a combined 9 points in the first 9 minutes of play. Union's Duan Crockett and Darius Hargrove had 24 points apiece. Crockett also pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds to record his second "double-double" of the season. The teams were tied at the half. But Union came back strong in the second half, scoring 50 points. VUU raised its record to 11-3 overall and 4-1 in the CIAA. State fell to 3-12 overall.
