Nervous

Nervous
Posted By: Deidre stroman on April 02, 2005

I am accepted at North Carolina A&T State University. My big bro and cousin attend. I am so apprehensive about the entire graduation thing. I am excited to go and graduate but yet at the same time I am nervous of what the future might hold for me.

I hate to leave my friends behind who will not be going to college, I hate to leave behind my boyfriend, who I am totally comfortable with, I also hate to be separted from my two bestfriends. I wonder if I will be able to find more people like them, you know. These are my soul sistas and my backbone. My mom and dad are my comfort zone, and it will be hard knowing that they're not in the room next door, or that i won't be getting homecooked grits and sausage. Does anyone else feel the same?

I know exactly how you feel! I've just been accepted to Hampton University, and I'm ready to graduate and all that...but I've never been away from home like this before! I'm kind of scared of having to meet all new people...and of course, the boyfriend situation! I just look at it like this...every new freshman is in the same boat as you, they are all out to look for new friends, and not everyone has that circle of friends on the first day. I wish you the best of luck, and if you need to talk...I'm here

I've been accepted to the same school as you and I have the exact same feeling you do. I mean at first it's all good, but it's getting closer and closer. I just keep telling myself this, yeah it's going to take some getting used to, but it's going to be the experience of a lifetime. We were going to have to get out there and make that move sooner or later. Whether we decided to go to college or not; there was going to be a point when we had to make a life of our own. Our friends, family and everyone are still going to be there, just not as close as usual. I think the both of us will adjust, and do perfectly well. Just remember this...you have someone right here in the same boat as you, and understands exactly where you're coming from in every aspect...so you always have a friend in me!
