COMMUNITY OR CHAOS:: An After Christmas Sale of Integrity :: 2020 MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY MENTAL HEALTH AND LITERACY SUMMIT IN DIRE NEED OF FUNDING to Save Sinai and So Many More

Today, over 148 million people, 45 percent of the country, will gallivant to the After-Christmas Sale, according to The National Retail Federation. That is such an astounding figure – some may say – especially because 1 in 4 of those people will be of the category of the nation’s mentally ill. They will be one of the 450 million mentally dis-eased of the world – a figure which was 385 million roughly two years ago. What is the most tormenting idea of all is that for every one of those four who suffer with a neurological and/or cognitive struggle, they also cannot read. One in four Americans cannot even read (DoSomething.Org), but factually, Americans will spend an average of $727.9 billion at the Day-After-Christmas Sale this year. Surprisingly enough, HealthSystemTracker.Org states that Americans only spend an average of $86.1 billion average on mental health – a comparison of $1,047.83 per American compared to 27.2 cents per American. Pew State Research Center delegates that of those who do celebrate Christmas, only a meager 46 percent of those who celebrate Christmas celebrate for a primarily religious reason. Plainly stated, 294 million adults spend 3852 times what they would spend on their own mental health for a Holiday only for which only 147 million of them celebrate for a religious purpose. Where … is the … integrity … or self-concern … in that …. Paradigm?
Martin Luther King Jr. once said “Never, never be afraid to do what's right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society's punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way”.

Brandalyn Gill, Houston resident, Houston Independent School District Endorsed (2011) self-published author of “Life…”, motivational speaker, producing actress, ghostwriter, and mother poses the question to the public, “How much longer are we going to live in chaos instead of community, sacrificing our health for our wealth and our worldly pleasures? How much integrity do we have to carry on to the next generation that is surely superseding their predecessors while they still live”. She is the program director for the 2020 Martin Luther King Jr. Day Mental Health and Literacy Summit – the first Houston has ever seen – to take place on January 20, 2020 and is having quite the struggle obtaining funding. “Houston has a thriving economy and more well-rounded people are moving here by the droves. I cannot bring myself to understand how people have become so ignorant to the needs of society as a whole, instead of a classist capitalistic machine, seemingly allergic to humanity. This is not an American thing anymore; it’s not a Texan thing or a Houston thing; this is a ‘7.53-billion-plus-world thing”.
Gill is the mental health advocate for her daughter, Sinai Gill, who has been granted her own campaign through the Summit. She suffers with anxiety and emotional disturbance inhibiting her from succeeding in her first year of school as a kindergartener – regardless of her high level of intelligence. Gill follows her child to a zoned-school from 7:30 AM to 12:00PM every day to ensure she is treated fairly as she has been illegally suspended there four times. She is also there because her daughter has been so traumatized by physical, sexual, and emotional abuse by the hands of a stranger – without her mother’s knowledge – she is afraid to go afraid to school alone. Her loneliness results in drastic misconduct. Gill asks anyone who views this with an ounce of integrity to join her fight at www.mlkdaysummit.com by participating in the fundraiser or as a sponsor to launch the Summit she claims, “ … will change the world – starting with one city – and make its mark in history”. Hoodies, T-shirts, and Gill’s book, “Life: A Book of Short Stories and Poems” is available for sale, all profits to be given to the program. “Essentially, $20 can help change a child’s life; our budget is five figures. We are seeking help …”
