Posted By: Will Moss on December 16, 2020 Former South Carolina defensive back Shilo Sanders has made it official. The son of Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders is headed to Jackson State to play for his father. Sanders, a former three-star defensive back, announced on Twitter Tuesday that he would be joining his father and brother, class of 2021 quarterback Shedeur Sanders, at Jackson State. This comes after Shilo Sanders entered the NCAA transfer portal on Dec. 14. "Pops said he needed some dawgs! So I’m joining my brother to help change the game at JSU and level the HBCU playing field," Shilo Sanders wrote in his tweet. Shilo previously played for his father in high school at Trinity Christian School in Cedar Hill, Texas, where he was ranked as the No. 665 overall prospect and No. 62 cornerback in the country for the 2019 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He picked South Carolina over Colorado State, and also held offers from schools like Florida State and Georgia. He appeared in four games during his true freshman season with the Gamecocks, recording one tackle in a win over Charleston Southern while preserving a year of eligibility. In nine games as a redshirt freshman, he finished seventh on the team with 32 tackles while also notching one tackle for loss and one pass breakup. Shilo entered the transfer portal just over one week after the Gamecocks closed out the regular season with a 41-18 loss at Kentucky on Dec. 5. The following day, South Carolina announced the hiring of head coach Shane Beamer to replace the fired Will Muschamp. Shilo’s younger brother, 2021 four-star quarterback Shedeur Sanders, is currently committed to play for Jackson State as part of Deion's first recruiting class. Shedeur is ranked as the No. 234 overall player and No. 15 pro-style quarterback in the 2021 recruiting cycle, per the Composite. Paid content by Verizon Introducing Verizon Business Unlimited Plans.
