Posted By: Loren Moss on January 27, 2021 Last Thursday, January 21st, HBCU Connect in collaboration Microsoft held a successful diversity recruitment event online for Black software and engineering professionals around the country. With over 120 online guests accompanied by leadership from Microsoft and HBCU Connect, the event showcased Microsoft opportunities in the Core Services Engineering & Operations Team, and allowed attendees to interactively engage with the Microsoft team, including the keynote speaker Stanley Grant III, Microsoft’s partner director of engineering for commercial sales and marketing. A video recap of the event can be seen above. “Microsoft is well-known as a supporter of diversity in the workplace,” explains Will Moss, founder and CEO of HBCUConnect.com, “Their opinion is that more diversity leads to more impressive innovation and better ideas, two concepts that are especially important in the software and high-tech industries.” The event also included a panel discussion focused on familiarizing guests with the culture and internal mechanics of Microsoft and the CSEO organization specifically. HBCU Connect conceived of, managed, and organized the event in collaboration with Microsoft, with at least 7 more events planned in the first quarter of 2021. HBCUConnect.com was established to help students and graduates of Historically Black Colleges and University better connect with each other and with scholarships, internship and career opportunities, while Trabajamos! was established to help streamline opportunities to Hispanic students & recent graduates.
