Black Voting

Posted By: Scipio Williams on May 08, 2006 Many of those on this site that know me, know that I was a product of the military and all of the "great" training it has to offer. I like many African-Americans who have gone into and come out of the military have gone on to bigger and better things, but with the way the country is going now I want to know how many of us plan to vote in the next series of elections. This country is at war, in another country, with itself. We are in a war, started by a president who owns interest in oil production, and because of this fact, has become the wealthiest president this country has ever had. My question is when are we as Black people, (I really don't like African-American because we did not choose that title) going to take a stand and put our elected officials in check? They work for us, and yet we as people aren't telling our employees how to handle our business! Holla at me on this! I always vote, those who complain the most are the 1st not to vote. When Bush got elected, I knew a whole bunch of folk who did not vote. I told them don't complain when crap hits the fan, they are crying the most and it falls on deaf ears in reference to me. Always war, inflation, high gas prices, high unemployment etc., whenever there is a republican President, thats a fact and always a few uncle toms and tommettes to back them like presently. Many republicans and quite a few whites have jumped off Bush's bandwagon save a few, nd guess what color the are? The "Our massa is sick... Filed negroes say, "We glad... Ok already, I voted for Bush. I said it. I became republican because I was military. I don't know much at all about politics. When Bush ran, I liked the idea of a morally sound president (or so it seemed). Ignorant, I know. Clinton did a stellar job in comparison. I am from Fla. and I would not dare mention to the elders in my family that I voted for Bush. I plan to get beat up on this one. However, this has got to be the worse administration ever. What you don't know will hurt you! The military issue is bad enough. The Katrina response did it for me. I still don't know a whole lot about politics, but I will before election time. I say not only vote. Be more informed than I.
